Well, this weekend was magical to say the least. First of all, I'm super, super sorry I haven't been blogging over the past couple of days but I hope the awesomely rad photographs in this post make up for my little absence (and perhaps provide you with a pretty decent excuse as to why I was away). So this weekend the awesome Tavi Gevinson from Rookie Mag and Style Rookie spoke at the Melbourne Writer's Festival. I've been following her blog since late 2008, I was 14 and completely at awe at the world of blogging. I was incredibly lucky to get tickets to both of her Melbourne events, her talk 'Tavi's World' on Friday night and Rookie Day on Saturday, a special event for girls (and boys!) under 20 years old. I started out typing out the two amazing days I had but then I felt that my words didn't justify the amount of fun, the amount of emotion and the amount of bliss I experienced. To sum the entire two days up, it's probably going to be the pinnacle of my adolescent life and I'm incredibly thankful for the time that I had and the people I hung out with. It was amazing and I will never forget the kindness I experienced. I feel very, very lucky. And thank you especially to the Melbourne Rookie Meet up girls who are amazing, unique and just fabulous in every single way! These are some photographs from the two days.

ReplyDeleteBloggers unite, Isabella! You're lovely!
DeleteLove this post! I had a ticket to Rookie Day but did not see the 20 years and under disclaimer!
ReplyDelete:)
You should have come anyway!? There were a couple of parents there because they're daughters were super young. It was so much fun and you missed on dancing to Taylor Swift in the library!
DeletePs - can I ask where your friend's awesome blue dress is from?
ReplyDeleteI will ask her and report back for you!
DeleteIt's from Zara!
DeleteThanks for posting this! The photos are gorgeous. I didn't even realise you were younger than me because your photos are really sophisticated and lovely!
ReplyDeleteHaha I'm a young one! :) I'm turning 19 at the end of November and I'm finding it really scary! I don't really want to leave my teenage years behind me in a weird way!
DeleteBut thank you so much Bonny! It was super lovely to meet you! <3
These are all absolutely magical. I'm so envious that you got to hang out with Tavi too! Most of all I'm so happy for you, I know it must have been incredible after looking up to her for so many years to finally get to meet your idol.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Which shoes were Tavi's? :)
Hey Ally! Ugh it all still feels like a blur for me?! Like, I literally said to some of the girls from the meet up 'you know how you go to these things, and there's always those really lucky people who get to meet that person or whatever? We are the lucky ones?! And it's totally weird!' The whole thing still seems very surreal.
DeleteTavi's shoes were the beige ones and she was wearing blue and black socks! :)
I loved these! and the video. She is so inspiring! you guys looked awesome too :)
ReplyDeleteTHE VIDEO WAS THE MOST AWKWARD THING OF MY LIFE HAHAHAH. But it was a really good video.
DeleteThank you so much Monica!
Beautiful photos and props on the forward-thinking to get polaroid photos with Tavi! By the way, any vision board with Bubble'0'Bill is definitely not lame ;)
ReplyDeleteHaha thank you Cheryl!! I love analogue photography at heart, I just don't always have the funds to be able to afford it. Luckily I had 3 polaroids left on my camera so I used them. They feel a lot more special than just an iPhone snap or digital photograph. They have substance and they take up space.
DeleteAw thank you, that's sweet! I was literally just cutting things out that I liked and arranged them in a very odd way, but we didn't have a lot of time! I love Bubble'O'Bill though! I need to have one when the weather gets warmer!
It was the best day ever!!! Thanks for posting some photos :D <3
ReplyDeleteIt really was! That's totally fine :)
DeleteIt was so lovely to meet you irl Carolyn, thank you for taking my photo with Tavi!
