365: Week One

First 365 photo post! Hurrah!
Day 1: It got to 6pm and I had already forgotten about my photo challenge, whoops! Little Tollie is always willing to pose for my photographs, even if he sometimes gives me a face that is almost saying 'Really? You want to take more photos of me?!'

Day 2: We started the second day of the year off with homemade vanilla bean ice cream with caramelised pears and nuts. It was delicious and the pears were amazing. I really feel like my photographs don't do Paul's cooking justice. He is so talented. Getting into food photography and food styling more is one of my goals this year.
Day 3: This is something incredibly personal for me to share with you. It's a photograph I've had in mind for a while now, but I've been procrastinating it because I knew how much emotion would need to be poured into it. It actually makes me upset just looking at it. If you've been following my blog for a long time, you my have picked up that I've been suffering from depression and anxiety for the past two or so years. I often manage my emotions through my exercise and making art, however I don't share the latter online much.
I want to change this though. I think it's really important to talk about mental illnesses and to erase the glamour culture that is surrounding mental health at the moment. It is a painful journey that you never truly recover from and although I have many good days I also have terrible days. These are not pretty photographs. I took a few different photos that all followed this form but some of them, I felt, looked too 'beautiful' to be shared. They didn't show the reality of the photographs like these two do. I wanted to show the folds of my skin and the shapes of my face.
Day 4: I spent yesterday in Lorne washing dishes again. The place where I work over looks the ocean and I got to see the sun set over the bay. There were so many people on the beach. Lorne is populated with tourists during the summer and everyone's skin was sun kissed brown from their holidays. I really enjoy the idea of seaside towns, especially Lorne. The Otways are beautiful and I love it how the houses and apartments rise up into the mountains.
Day 5: I spent today at the NGV visiting the Melbourne Now exhibition with some friends. There was some amazing artworks, including some photographs which I absolutely loved, but I was most excited to see the dance floor because I just love the idea of dancing on moving lights!! I took this photograph of Adele today that I had to share today! I really love the futuristic vibe of this image and I have a love affair with Adele's hair because it's so long and luscious and I'm jealous! I'll be posting more photographs from today in a blog post tomorrow!

  4. I think what you're doing is their bravest thing to do when faced with anxiety and depression... I was also tormented by both on high school but as long as you take each day as it comes and will yourself to become better you can beat it
I know you can do it, you're strong
